How We Met

PRINCESS’ PERSPECTIVE

I mentor the most precious young lady ever. Calvin was mentored by, get this, her father Pastor Jones. The two of us had never met, but we frequented the Jones’ residence. Pastor Jones inquired about my relationship status numerous times; he had someone he wanted me to meet. Calvin and I eventually were both single, not even going on dates with anyone else.
June of 2018, Pastor Jones scheduled a meetup. Prior to meeting Calvin, I knew his age, where he was from, and that he loved God and music. Based on some other things I heard, I had questions; but I agreed to meet him. The original plan was to meet Father’s Day weekend, but that was rescheduled for Thursday, June 21. I arrived at Jonathan’s Grille in Mt. Juliet on time! Calvin and Pastor Jones walked in about 3-5 minutes later. Calvin greeted me with a huge smile and handshake. Once seated, Pastor Jones talked Calvin up as this amazing man of God with genius level musical skills. I took it all in. Pastor Jones excused himself and left me and Calvin to have dinner and conversation to ourselves.
Calvin and I talked and laughed nonstop for almost 3 hours. Surprisingly, it was the best first date I had ever been on. He asked all the right questions and did not flinch at my numerous inquiries. It was late and the restaurant was closing. I had to be up at 5am the next morning yet neither one of us wanted to part ways. Knowing how much I love my sleep, I asked Calvin if he was going to give me his number. He told me I beat him to it. He wanted to see me again right away so he scheduled our next date of TENNIS the following Saturday. As much as I love the Williams sisters, I had to admit I didn’t have the skillset (because soccer was my thing but not really). Calvin told me it was fine because he would teach me. He has been teaching me that and so much more ever since.
I prayed for God’s best and someone after God’s own heart who loved me second only to God. God delivered with my biblical David – Calvin Lee Rogers, Jr.

CALVIN’S PERSPECTIVE

On Thursday June 21st 2018, my Mentor, Pastor William Jones, introduced me to the mentor of his daughter Alexis Jones. I arrived at Jonathan’s Grill in Mt. Juliet that evening and walked in with Pastor Jones. There, sitting to my left as I walked in, was Princess Page. She greeted us with a warm and beautiful smile, little did I know she would be the love of my life. That night was nothing short of amazing. We talked for about 45 minutes to an hour before ordering our food, then laughed and talked some more. That night I knew she was someone that I wanted to pursue. After weeks of long conversations, messages, and dates I asked her to be my girlfriend on July 22nd of 2018. As we continued to date and grow together in relationship and love, I knew that she was God sent and the one for me. Already 3 months in I began planning a day that she would never forget. On January 22nd, 2019 I proposed to her at Centennial Park in Nashville, TN. It was not only the best day ever but the beginning of forever for us. We’ve shared lots of great memories and fun times. Together we have laughed, cried, prayed, worshipped, screamed, danced and the list goes on lol. There’s no one else who I would rather share life’s greatest joys. She is truly something special. I love Princess Page. She is my fiancée, my future wife, and absolutely my Princess. I am blessed and very excited to share my life with her.

~ Princess Rogers ~

Princess Page Rogers is an attorney, caterer, and writer residing in Nashville, Tennessee. Rogers was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee where she credits her determination and inability to quit. She learned the power of prayer and relationship with God at an early age, and they continued to be part of her core values. Rogers knew at the tender age of eight that she wanted to practice law.
After high school, she went to Rocky Top or Knoxville, Tennessee where she received her Bachelor of Science in Communications. Rogers indicated the years spent in Knoxville were possibly the most memorable years to date. It is customary for her to return a couple times a year to cheer on her VOLS and spend time with friends.
After college, Rogers went on to law school at Thomas M. Cooley in Lansing, Michigan. At Cooley Law, Rogers endured the coldest winters ever. However, during this three year period, Rogers grew as an individual and matured as a woman. The lack of exposure to sunlight and possibly being homesick led to Roger’s depression. In meeting with counselors to help with depression, Rogers learned she was dyslexic. She was determined to finish law school without a label to define her, and she did just that.
During her last term at Cooley Law, Rogers was accepted as an intern with the Office of District Attorney General in Nashville. After graduation, Rogers remained in Nashville to study for the Tennessee Bar exam. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Nashville, and it immediately felt like home. Rogers is a mentor for Mt Zion’s Saving Our Daughters ministry.
Rogers is currently a practicing attorney for the State of Tennessee. She was led by God to write and inspires to be a published author. She has written numerous poems, short stories, and songs. Rogers is an avid reader and loves music. She enjoyed cooking for others so much, she started her own catering business, the King’s Palate Catering. The name is a play off her royal name, her father’s nickname, and her Heavenly Father. Rogers’ relationship with God has allowed her to overcome obstacles, loss, pain, heartbreak and is the main motivation in Rogers’ life to be a blessing to others as He has been such a blessing to her.
